The IDEA Foundation operates with a comprehensive focus on supporting high-risk students, their educators, and families. These students often include those who live in disadvantaged, high poverty, rural locations that may not have appropriate resources readily available.

IDEA maintains the connections with stakeholders who can make a difference. For instance, IDEA has a collaborative relationship with agribusinesses across the nation that benefits the agriculture industry and America's food supply by supporting the education of mobile farmworker students.

IDEA’s partnership with Kansas State University provides innumerable collaboration opportunities for these efforts to continue expansion across the nation. There are currently 34 states with IDEA-backed programs covering each state’s entire population of identified at-risk students.

The IDEA Foundation’s home state of Kansas is the lead state for both iSOSY and IDRC. IDEA’s close relationships with the Kansas Department of Education, Kansas State University, and the directors of its various programs provides a robust structure for achieving the goals of the foundation.

iSOSY (Innovative Strategies for OSY and Secondary Youth)

The 18-state iSOSY Consortium develops resources and materials to address the needs of mobile farmworker youth. Our products help eligible students identify and achieve their academic and career goals with support from innovative technology. Through collaboration among member states, we expand capacity at the state and local levels to support the success of mobile farmworker out-of-school youth (OSY) and secondary students who are at risk of dropping out of high school.

IDRC (Identification and Recruitment Consortium)

IDRC is focused on helping identify children of mobile farmworkers that have gaps in their education. Once eligible children or youth up to age 21 are identified, they receive free resources that are directly designed to help them do well in school, obtain their GED or HiSet, and receive additional support due to their educational disruption and mobile lifestyle.  As children move across districts or states, they can fall behind in school. We work to develop partnerships with agencies, schools, farms, and agribusinesses across the country to ensure the success of children of mobile farmworkers.

KSMEP (The Kansas Migrant Education Program)

The Kansas Migrant Education Program (KSMEP) has been working since 1967 to ensure that mobile farmworker children in the state fully benefit from the same free public education provided to other students. To achieve this, the MEP supports supplemental programs for mobile farmworker children to help reduce the educational disruptions and other problems that result from repeated moves.
